Buttonsy started when American husband and British wife arrived back in the UK and couldn’t find work so I went back to making jewellery… just to tide us over until we could get “proper jobs”. But (never start a new sentence with “but”, they said), somehow, within a few months, Buttonsy became a Proper Job.

Our passion behind Buttonsy comes from our belief in choosing joy and looking for the little things… collecting happy moments and acknowledging them so they become a part of our fundamental fiber, and that is what we love to share. We want to make things that are kind, and joyful.

Based in the UK, our jam (I’ve never used that word in that context before. I quite like it. I am going to make an effort to become much more trendy) is making jewellery that’s elegant but pretty; classy but whimsical; stationery and homeware that focus on joy and celebration. All of our products are handmade, or printed locally.

We know things can be difficult, and when you feel down, it doesn’t feel like anything can pull you up out of it. So we aren’t your average
jewellery designers. For the last year and a half, we have shared a “Jar of Joy” entry every day on our Facebook page: one lovely thing that has happened that day that goes into a glass jar ready to be read at the end of the year. We ask people to share their own jar of joy moment and it is beautiful every single day!

We truly encourage you to choose joy. Our Box of Happy (year-long happiness project) has been used both individually and in groups… we’ve been given testimonies about it helping with depression and compassion. Hearing stuff like that really is our actual jam. To hear more of our story and what inspires us, mosey on over to our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/Buttonsy
